What is Drug Delivery?

In the broad field of drug delivery, the main purpose is to optimize efficacy of the therapeutic effect in patients, and improve patient safety and convenience. The various efforts include various drug formulations, manufacturing techniques, and transportation systems.

At DTU Health Tech, we develop technologies for drug delivery for different routes of administration, e.g. oral, injections, buccal, ocular, and transdermal. We develop drug carriers that protect the drug when it travels through the digestive system and enable the drug to cross the intestinal wall. We also focus on drug targeting and drug formulations to direct the drug to the site of disease in the body using e.g. nanotechnology.
