Name: Christina Schmidleithner
Project Title: 3D Printed Microenvironments for Organoid Differentiation and Maturation
Group: PolyCell
Supervisor: Niels Bent Larsen

Project Description:
Establishing a dual-material stereolithography system for high-resolution 3D printing of hydrogels is one of the main objectives of this project. Combining compliant poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) and stiffer epoxy materials within one print by orthogonal chemical reactions will enable simple fabrication of monolithic multi-material devices.

Perspective:

Applications of these devices include engineering of 3D printed microenvironments for organoid differentiation and maturation. As tuning of biomechanical cues is essential in mimicking the native environment, this accurate representation of in vivo conditions is anticipated to lead to more mature tissue models and could thereby facilitate efficient drug screening or disease modelling.
