We are pleased to announce that Evangelos Vouros will defend his PhD thesis, “Vector flow imaging for angle independent blood flow estimation,” on Monday, 15 December 2025, from 13:00–16:00 in Bldg. 341, Auditorium 23.
Supervised by Prof. Jørgen Arendt Jensen, Prof. Christian Hassager, and Prof. Jesper James Linde, Evangelos’ work introduces a new method for angle-independent 2D blood flow estimation in the heart. By introducing an additional perpendicular wave—much like intersecting ripples forming a chessboard pattern—his method enables estimation of both axial and lateral velocity components without altering the clinical workflow.
This technique has the potential to improve diagnosis of complex intracardiac flow patterns, reduce reliance on additional MRI exams, and provide clinicians with faster, more accurate velocity assessments.
The assessment committee includes Prof. Anders Bjorholm Dahl, Prof. Jan D’Hooge, and Dr. Damien Garcia, with Assoc. Prof. Billy Yiu serving as chair.
All are welcome to attend.
