Project Title: Characterization of immune activation in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer
Group: T-cells and cancer
Supervisor: Sine Reker Hadrup

Project Description:

  1. The objective of this study is to characterize the local immune infiltration and immune microenvironment at the site of disease and to assess potential characteristics associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer.
  2. We further aim to map the CD8 T cell recognition of HPV 16/18 oncoproteins and compare the T cell recognition profiles (breadth and intensity) between cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer.

Perspective:

We hope to get a greater understanding of the characteristics of immune activation at early stage of disease in comparison to late stage disease, as well as the heterogeneity among patients. Overall this may provide insight to the ability of patients’ immune system to respond to HPV infection and early cellular transformation, and hence provide us with the ability to further boost this process in selected patient groups.
