Project Title: Synthesis of TLR agonists for immunotherapy
Group: CBIO
Supervisor: Thomas L. Andresen
Project Description:
This PhD is part of a larger research project focussing on drug delivery to the immune system to enhance an anti-cancer response in the tumor microenvironment. More specifically, the aim of this PhD project is to design and synthesize novel agonists for Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs), a class of receptors vital for stimulating the immune system to respond to diseases. As the group is working with liposomal formulations, focus for this project will be on developing immunomodulators of high potency as well as being suited for the liposomal loading procedure. The starting point will be synthesis of agonists for TLR7.
Perspective:
Improved immunotherapeutic tools could aid the conventional cancer treatments, stimulating the commonly very supressed immune system.
