Project Title: 3-D Motion Estimation
Group: Center for Fast Ultrasound imaging (CFU)
Supervisor(s): Jørgen Arendt Jensen and Matthias Bo Stuart
Project Description:
The project will utilize 2-D ultrasound Transducers and the Transverse Oscillation (TO) approach to estimate tissue and blood motion in 3-D. The main objective is to design an imaging sequence capable of acquiring full-volumetric-images suitable for fast-flow velocity estimation and to modify the TO estimator to work with volumetric images.
Perspective:
Currently, most commercial ultrasound scanners estimate flow along one direction. What is estimated is, therefore, the flow's projection onto a 1-D axis, which is insufficient to describe details of the flow that could potentially disclose a vascular condition. With an accurate 3-D flow estimator, the complex flow structures can be quantified, and the 3-D flow data can further be used to reduce motion artifacts, improve image registration, and estimate arterial pressure.
