Cardiovascular Biomechanics

Our research concerns development of biomechanical computational models of the cardiovascular system. Currently we focus on development of models of the carotid bifurcation and the human heart. The aim is to obtain more detailed knowledge about the complex blood flow patterns that exists in the human body. These models can help us understand the influence of changes in the blood flow patterns we experience as we age and how blood flow behavior differs in development of cardiovascular diseases.
