Project Description:
This project focuses on developing a type of multitasking nanogel based on magnetic upconversion nanoparticle (MUCNP) to trigger cancer immunotherapy by NIR-induced photodynamics therapy (PDT). The developed strategy has demonstrated the great potency of integrating MUCNP-based PDT with cancer immunotherapy to realize a remarkable synergistic therapeutic outcome in eliminating glioblastoma and preventing glioblastoma relapse.

Perspective:
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and most aggressive form of primary brain tumor. The poor prognosis is due to therapeutic resistance and tumor recurrence following surgical removal, and the treatment of such brain tumor remains a challenge. Immunotherapy is one of the fastest developing approaches in clinical oncology. Checkpoint blockade as a promising type of cancer immunotherapy method has attracted tremendous interest in recent years. Thereforen, this proposed nanogels provide a novel and versatile approach to boost anti glioblastoma photoimmunotherapy.
