Project Description:
The main objective of this project is to develop thymic organoid constructs with precisely engineered oxygen tensions through high resolution 3D printing of microfluidic PEGDA chips. The long-term biological aim is to achieve T-cell maturation facilitated by a functional thymus-on-a-chip with thymic cortical and medullary regions.
Perspective:
Thymic organoids will be an important tool for disease modelling, understanding of T-cell maturation, and for the generation of patient specific T-cells for cell-based immunotherapy. In addition, the platform may be used for cancer disease models and chemotherapeutic agent testing, where precise oxygen gradients are needed.
