Project Title: Nanomedicine development for combination with ultrasound mediated brain cancer therapy

Project Description:
The main goal of this project is the development of an improved brain cancer therapy based on the combination of targeted liposomal chemotherapy nanocarriers and therapeutic ultrasound.

Perspective:
The malignancies of the central nervous system are very challenging to treat by means of chemotherapy, due to the presence of the blood brain barrier, which tightly controls the transport of substances from the blood stream to the brain. By successfully using therapeutic ultrasound to temporarily disrupt the blood brain barrier in combination with targeted drug carriers to transport chemotherapeutic agents inside the brain novel effective brain cancer therapies will be developed.
